This is not the most pretty or deepest standing compass around but this is exactly where I’m at today. I’m not perfect but that’s okay and I’m grateful that I’m finally learning to embrace my imperfections, for a strong and stretchy body, for the progress that I’ve made and for the teachers that have guided me here.

The journey is long so, enjoy the process, smile and learn to have fun along the way.

Thank you @maesummernight for this picture, for being the only person who can make me smile like that while contorting, for always leading me back to my happy place by the ocean in your flow classes and just like how you always remind us, I hope that you also know that you are loved and you are waaaay more than enough 💕

TGIF! While we are going to have a great weekend, here are some informations for Dolphin pose! It is a great pose to stretch your shoulders, hamstrings and calves. It can be quite extreme for your heels so keeping your knees bent, hips high and tip toes while you draw your chest and belly to your thigh is a great variation for shoulders opening. It helps to strengthen your shoulders and prepare for any advance inversions. 😊

Always happy to be able to help these students in their event. This is my 2nd time helping out the sports and management students for their school project, an introduction of basic yoga to students who haven’t tried yoga before. Despite fasting month, the turn-up rate was pretty good. Was happy to see smiling and happy faces at the end of the session. @1habit.co #1habitrecovery is reminding us to pause and breathe. I got some tips: 1. Adjust your hair, it’s important not to get distracted 😑. If you can tie up your hair, please do so. Tying up my hair makes my head feels heavy, so I prefer to let it down. For guys, you’re blessed. No hair trouble. 2. Lift up your shoulders toward your ears, then roll shoulders back and down. Naturally your chest is lifted forward and up. Spine lengthening. 3. If you need to wriggle and adjust your posture, do so. Make yourself really comfortable. Because you’re gonna be “still” for min. 2 minutes. 4. SMILE. Subconsciously, it’ll make anything challenging become easy. Agree??
5. Inhale Long and deep, chest rising. Exhale, allow the breath to run through your spine and down to your sit bone. *repeat for 2 to 15 mins* *breathe in and it through your nostrils, if it is hard, in through your nose, exhale mouth. ~About Daphne Chua~
As a yoga therapist, a movement educator and bodyworker, Daphne has been practising yoga for the last two decades in a multitude of yoga styles & movement disciplines. She is also trained in the art of Traditional Thai Yoga Massage, Biodynamic Cranial Sacral Therapy, Chi Nei Tsang (TCM Abdominal Detox Massage), Tai Chi Massage and Reiki, all of which she infuses into the alchemy of her integrated bodywork and evidence-based yoga therapy. The Pranayama (breathing exercises) will help restore the desired oxygen levels in the brain and body. Hence, it helps to boost your energy level, calm your body and mind and strengthens your overall immune system.
How to PRACTICE DEEP BREATHING?
1️⃣ Simply sit comfortable (can be done by sitting on a chair), close your eyes, hands resting on your knees, keep your spine upright.
2️⃣ Take a deep inhalation through your nostrils, expand your chest fill it up with air, exhale allow the breath run through your spine.
3️⃣ Do this for 2 to 15 minutes. Gentle reminder: Relax your neck, shoulders.. usually we tend to shrug our shoulders up.
