In the vein of holding myself accountable to deeper reflection, I'm focusing on a single theme for the month of April. It's a beautiful thing to be closer to spring, but I often find myself rushing to be at a certain point when there's more to be seen along the way. This got me thinking about being completely lost, whether it's mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually... I have a hard time not knowing where I'm going. While I don't consider myself a planner or someone who requires an agenda, I do typically know the direction in which I'm headed. When I got off the subway in London, I (very confidently 😏) walked the wrong direction for an hour before realized I was completely lost. I couldn't use my phone because I didn't have international service, and the three passers-by I asked for directions had no clue where I was trying to go. Neat. I had some choices: I could cry, I could be pissed off, or I could woman up and embrace whatever emotion I felt in the moment, take a deep breath and learn a little bit about myself and my reactions in life. First of all, I'm super happy to say that was my attitude - to reflect on my reactions and embrace positivity. Second of all, I laughed out loud that that's where my head was while I was completely lost alone in a city carrying my backpack that was digging into my shoulders. (How far I've come since my early 20s...). I realized that sometimes - maybe most of the time, really - being lost helps us find ourselves. Every situation is an opportunity for us to learn and reflect on our actions. If I would have chosen the path of anger, it really wouldn't have gotten me anywhere, and neither would crying in the street. So, how can we embrace uncertainty without expectation? Let's start by offering ourselves up to the possibilities with an open mind. ✌🏼️ See y'all soon.
And thank you, @danielcorduayoga for an awesome practice today and the reminder that in serving others we also need to serve ourselves sometimes. Needed that. 🙏🏼
This week's class sched is in the comments - an official, normal class schedule will be in effect as of next week. ☺️
