Today, I was able to experience something that I can’t even put into words. The Ron Clark Academy is a game-changer. Who I am as a teacher changed so much after attending Get Your Teach On (founded by some amazing RCA teachers) and today was the icing on the cake! There was even a PEACOCK hotel classroom! ❤️ So thankful for this opportunity! #rca#ronclarkacademy#slidecertified#setthestagetoengage#iteachk

I get to co-teach with this amazing woman @treeshley every morning! One of my favorite times of day! Can’t wait for the kids to see what we have planned on Monday!!! 🤩😉
Pixar Place(Value) Activities: •Toy Story - Steam Mania Towers (from @getyourteachon & @elementaryshenanigans ) kiddos had to build the tallest tower that would hold army men and aliens. •Nemo - 🎣 for numbers that they had to write in standard/expanded/word form •Incredibles - Fact Family Triangles; kiddos had to dig in the bucket for Incredibles figurines with a factor or product on the bottom. They had to build fact families with the numbers they pulled out. • Monster’s Inc. - Teacher called out a multi-digit number and they had to write the number in standard form, then build the number using base ten blocks they dug out of the basket. • • • @centralusd #setthestagetoengage#rockyourschool#getyourteachon#bethewildcard
Have your kids experienced air vortex canons? They are a great learning tool, not to mention fascinating to watch (and chase, for my kids). I practiced with it today in preparation for next week’s lesson on Sailboat STEM (link to lesson in profile). ⛵️ . I will use the vortex cannon to demonstrate how air can *push* and exert a force on the sail of a sailboat. Seeing the movement of air leads to great discussions on sail surface area, shape, and materials too! . Want to make your own vortex canon? It is so easy! Use a large cylindrical container like a plastic trash can, or in my case a flower pot. Cut a 3-6 inch circular hole in the center of the bottom. Then tape a thick plastic trash bag or shower curtain over the top— the opposite end of the hole you cut out. Shoot some fog from a fog machine into the cut out hole, point it away from you and pat the bag end to push the air out. If you don’t have a fog machine, you can still use the canon to puff air and knock things off of your desk or have students feel the force on their faces. 💨 🙂 . Have you built sailboats with your students? . . . STEM Sailboat Challenge Math & Engineering Activity by Vivify STEM on Teachers Pay Teachers .
We ROCKED our school yesterday and today! Their reactions and level of engagement were my favorite parts! I even got a hug from a coworker thanking me for pumping HER up and excited to come to work! Thank you @getyourteachon@elementaryshenanigans and @_wadeking for inspiring me to take a leap of faith, stop playing it safe, and reminding me that learning CAN be fun! Check out my stories to see more fun we had! #setthestagetoengage
