The Routine 3/7: Lunch
The monotony of paddling all day, every day means stopping for a break is a constant temptation but it's something I've learnt to avoid.
I've found that if I stop for more than 10min fatigue kicks in and mentally I suffer for the rest of the day. So, for me, it's easier to slog out a day paddling nearly all of the 8-10hrs with just 2 10min breaks rather than push out quick paced sessions with long breaks in between.
A couple of @honeystingau bars during the first break and some Nutella sandwiches and another bar during the second, is enough to keep my energy up.
It's not a lot but the Honey Stinger bars give me more than enough fuel to get through the day and that's all I need to do.
As I'm only stopped for a bit I don't bother getting off the board, which also means I don't give myself a chance to switch off before I start paddling again.. Day 84 of @sup4dca was completely different to the photo as it rained the entire time I paddled. (I'm trying to give insight into a typical day and rain is not at all typical)
While I did forget a rain coat and shivered all day soaked to the bone, it was a nice change up. However the worse news is we are still on dirt roads and so I may be forced to have a day off while we wait for roads to dry out.. -
