Neil Diamond. I'm Glad You're Here With Me Tonight/September Morn. This is my 77th music post, I wanted to do something special. And for me, these two albums are what started my love of music.
I got the double cassette for (not accurate) my 10th (?) birthday. My mum was a big Neil Diamond fan so this for me was my first introduction to him. I would play the tape nightly, learning all the songs. As I grew older, and tech changed, I purchased them on CD, along with the rest of his back catalogue. But for me, these two albums will always hold a special place in my heart and life. Growing up listening to Neil, I have been able to share him with my wife, who while not a big music lover, will always be happy when I put on an album.
Neil's version of "God Only Knows" it's slow melodic tune will always surpass the original, "I'm Glad You're Here With Me Tonight " would come to have a special meaning for me "September Morn" "That Kind" "The Shelter Of Your Arms" for me are the ballads of my childhood.
I don't know where I would be if I didn't have this music in my life, and I will be forever grateful to my mum for sharing her love of Neil Diamond with me.
