On a scorching summers day during rush hour, out of curiosity many years ago I took a slight detour off the very heavily beaten path into a car dealership. This was not a normal dealership filled with normal cars. As I pulled up I could see a championship winning McLaren Honda F1 car sitting in its showroom, and I knew this was going to be fun.
Upon entering I was greeted by a young man who was working the parts and merchandise section. All the salespeople’s faces at the time were glued to their screens as they familiarized themselves with a super car that seemed to share a model name with a Maytag Dishwasher from the eighties.
After about twenty minutes of simply talking about the cars on sale, McLaren’s rich history, I was then offered to look at their apparel. Apparently, none of the owners of their cars thus far had expressed any interest in any of the items so I was told I would get a good deal if I saw anything I liked.
That’s when I saw them. The expertly crafted black leather and orange accented driving gloves. Fearing their price I told the gentleman that they were nice and that I had been looking for a good pair of gloves for a couple of years. He smiled and told me how much he would sell them to me, and the next thing I knew, they were mine.
The model designation for the gloves is a hilarious MCL 7003 and they are great for warm weather. My hunt for the perfect pair of driving gloves did not stop there however.
