3.6 stars for this well aged and still fresh blend of Negroamaro/Malvasia Nera, aged for 9 months in French Oak barrels.
Not my favorite wine style and grapes anymore but great paired with our homemade Lasagna.
A deep ruby red with garnet shades and many long legs.
On the nose medium+ intense aromas of black raspberries, baked plums, sweet spices, dry tobacco, toast and hints of vanilla.
The fruit concentrated red has a medium and fresh acidity, medium- and velvety tannins which are integrated.
It’s full bodied with 14.5% ABV.
On the palate are intense flavours of black raspberries, ripe wildberries, preserved plums, sweet spices, vanilla, soil and tar.
A long and mouthcoating finish with stewed dark berries and some tar.
A good structured red and not very modern like all that stuff with residual sugar.
Decanted it for an hour but that’s definitely enough. Otherwise I thin the wine will oxidate.
