Engagement is my theme this week.
I chose what may sound like an odd story to share about #engagement. I've thought a lot about the barriers to #engagement over the last 18-20 years since Buckingham's research & book came out.
My roles, whether as an executive or a performance consultant, have focused me on solutions to increase engagement.
NOW, as I work with you, the young career-oriented person seeking to build a lucrative and meaningful career, I'm looking at the whole concept of engagement differently.
Yes - the employer is obligated and will benefit tremendously when engagement increases. Yes - the employer would be wise to calculate the ROI at stake. The solutions from the employer's side are complex. They centre around the behavior and frankly, #selfawareness of the individual manager. It can and must change but THAT is not where your zone of influence is so why focus there? (Unless management is where you are or aspire to be. Then, you MUST #doTHISwork.) The story I share today reveals how, by fully engaging in what YOU want to accomplish in any field of endeavour with passion & purpose you'll win the admiration of others. YOUR choice to engage, against the odds, even when the culture or your manager make it difficult, helps you to further your purpose and career aspirations.
My mission is to help you build the skills to be #selfaware enough to rise above the barriers any manager may put in front of you AND to take ownership of your own level of engagement.
BTW, if you are already in the 13% who are engaged in the workplace, make a point of inviting others to join you. The more, the merrier it will be.
Oh... and check out the first in my series of workshops that will help you develop the skills. The EARLY BIRD PRICE ended yesterday. If you follow me AND DM me here, I will send you a promo code to get $100.00 off your registration fee.
