Yesterday, I visited my parents' house. It has been months since I last went home and it was only then that I was able to give my dad my long-overdue Father's Day gift, a Seiko 5 SNK809.
My father was surprised that I gave him this particular timepiece. With a smile on his face, he said he also gave me a Seiko 5 before. Having only started collecting just a few months back, I can't recall having a Seiko before.
He went to their bedroom and brought out the watch. My dad said it was my graduation gift in high school, back in 2001. 16 years ago! It's still in pristine condition, no scratches nor dings. It still works! I checked it out and it looks like an SKX393.
He said that I only used it once, during the graduation ceremony. After that, I hid the watch inside my cabinet and left it there. He found it during a general cleaning and saved it.
An interesting story and weird case of deja vu - a son gifting his father a timepiece and his father giving back a forgotten gift from ages ago.
This watch will be treasured well and will definitely be passed on to the next generation of our family.
Happy Sunday, ladies and gentlemen!
