📍 Eastern State Penitentiary, Philadelphia, USA 🇺🇸One of the creepiest places I’ve ever been! What’s the creepiest place you’ve ever been to? 👻

Hello, strange land. The last time I visited I’d just crossed America and spent some of my time here on top of a rock feeling a lot of things. I briefly considered throwing my wedding ring into a crevice to solidify the end of my marriage, but didn’t because that’s littering and I would never. All these years later a lot has changed. I’m less alone than I was then, in so many ways.

If there’s anything I want, it’s to show the magic of our parks to the people I love, and I did that today, with part of my lady wolf pack. We scampered, avoided all the crowded places and failed at synchronized jumping. It was perfect.

Checking out the graveyard here in New Orleans it seems people are dying to get in. I know it is a lame joke 😜 #seeamerica #nola #ghost #cemetery

There are many big birds in this world. From the World’s Largest Pelican in Minnesota to the World’s Largest Mallard Duck in Alberta, Canada to, well, that giant yellow one that lives on Sesame Street. But only one bird holds the title of the World’s Largest Goose: and boy is she a beauty! 🛑 Link in Bio for More Information 🛑 .

So I’m officially two months behind sharing pictures of our cross-country National Park trip. And since we are starting yet ANOTHER National Park trip in three weeks, I need to get CRACKIN’!
.
August 20: After Canyonlands in the early afternoon, we got back to camp and made dinner, then headed out to Arches National Park for sunset. It’s really hard to describe this place other than just magic. It’s like no place I’ve ever seen, and seeing it in the evening light just brought out all the colors even more. We headed to the most popular Windows section of the park, because we didn’t have enough time to hike to Delicate Arch - kicking ourselves for this... you’ll find out why in my next post.
.
Even though it wasn’t Delicate Arch, the Windows has some incredible arches packed into a small space, with very little hiking required.
.
Double arch (photo 1) is simply incredible. It is massive. I was too nervous to climb up into it that day, but I went back the next day! Scoob climbed into Turret Arch and struck his signature pose (picture 3). Then we walked around to the backside of North Window Arch (picture 4) and back to the front where you can see North and South Window (picture 5). We settled on a sunset viewing spot from North Window Arch (picture 6), and I took a video to try and show the epic size and beauty of this place (first video). There is also a fun time lapse of the obscured sunset, but the moving clouds turned out to be really neat.
.
That night was truly our only uncomfortable night of camping in the heat - it was probably 80-90 degrees when we went to bed. I was worried about camping across the country in August but most nights we were just fine!
.
The next day contained SO. MANY. ADVENTURES. It’ll take two posts!

A great museum. I have been twice before and they seem to have added more each time. #seeamerica #nola #wwii

Great Sand Dunes National Park was both bizarre & beautiful. After driving for 2.5hrs through central Colorado, surrounded by grasslands and the Rocky Mountains, you suddenly find yourself in America’s largest sandbox and are instantly transported to fun in the desert. The best of both worlds in one wild place. Too bad I didn’t have a sled like many of the park’s visitors had 🛷

National park 2/59: Olympic. When we were headed to British Columbia we considered our proximity to Olympic NP and thought it could be a great opportunity to visit. The weather was in full cooperation with a string of sunny days, and given the Olympic Peninsula’s average yearly rainfall, we saw this as a golden opportunity. Though, visiting the rain forest while it is raining is supposed to be a pretty fantastic olfactory experience and the mind-boggling huge banana slugs are in full effect 🍌. Washington is really just the best; filled with waterfalls, rain forests, beaches and mountains, the natural beauty is a little ridiculous.
