Classic Spider-Man, rendered in @assemblyapp! The tribal designs to create have practically become my signature design when I use it.
Now as to Spider Man: Homecoming: This is by far the epitome of Peter Parker's very being. He's unsure outside the mask, he's green, he gets in deeper than he ever expects to, his masked banter isn't too overwhelming, he's terrified of his identity getting out. This is what newcomer superheroing looks like: it's dangerous, it's exhilarating, and, well, boring most of the time. Plus balancing a normal life on top of it all. For having so many writers, for once they understand truly the character they're pulling from the comics: a street-level hero who has an incredible--perhaps amazing even—set of skills that don't work in every environment.
Even Toomes is brilliantly re-imagined, using the assets (literally and figuratively) of the movies that are part of the MCU. If there's ever a film that conveys the real impact on having the Avengers around, this is it. Webhead's books have always been able to have a relatable character in an even moreso comic, be it the suburbs, Queens or the hubbub of Manhattan. This has always been its greatest strength. Director Watts finally grasped how to put "puny Pete" onscreen in all his nuances with an even better actor than before. Holland is nervous but doesn't stammer in doing so. He really feels like a 15 year-old who is doing every thing he can to play in the big leagues after a taste, keep the mask on (refreshing--a Spidey who realizes secret identities should remain just that) while doing it & dealing with the newfound fame of it all and trying not to exploit it for his own gain. It avoids an origin, highlights even more from Civil War, offers up a mentor like young heroes often get in the comic pages, & a reimagined villain in the Vulture who, like Alfred Molina's Doc Ock has Keaton taking on Adrian Toomes like a duck to water.
It is the absolute perfect summer superhero film.
It IS the perfect Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
