Phil's Camino - a story of free spirit Phil, a man living with Stage 4 Cancer and dreaming of walking the 500 mile spiritual pilgrimage Camino de Santiago across Spain. Unable to make the trip, he does the next best thing: he builds a camino in the forest behind his house on Vashon Island, starts to walk, and traces his progress on a map.
This remarkable journey is one of hope, acceptance, and freedom, and is sure to inspire anyone who has ever dreamed of doing something that sounded impossible and has **WON 10** out of 15 Festivals and has officially submitted to the Academy for Oscar® nomination consideration.

We’ve had such amazing panel discussions at SDFF, including A Day in the Life: Observational Documentaries, festival filmmakers who have used this style of filmmaking who discussed the challenges and their beliefs around objectivity/subjectivity in making documentary films! Thanks to everyone who participated in this wonderful moment.
This fascinating panel was moderated by SDFF Programmer, Jane Winslow and panelist include: Amit Madheshiya, director of The Cinema Travellers; Hamid Jafari, director of The Rock; Rahul Jain, director of Machines; Martin DiCicco, director of All That Passes By Through a Window That Doesn't Open.

In the quest to understand his origins, Michael invites his mother to join him on a road trip to visit some of the key places from their past. In Machines director Rahul Jain portrays the rhythm of life and work in a gigantic textile factory in India. Moving through the corridors of the enormous structure, the camera takes the viewer to a place of dehumanizing physical labor, highlighting the huge divide between first world and developing countries. .
