At 110 years old, with a $74 million addition, the Pike Place Market has survived and thrived. It still pulls on the emotions of Seattleites of all stripes, some who go there when feeling discouraged. The Market perks them up. The MarketFront ramps will lead to the waterfront after the Alaskan Way Viaduct is torn down. Its demise is scheduled for next year.
