Tonight was grilled sandwiches, a family movie and chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches. It's nights like these that remind me how blessed we are as a family. No, we're not rich, but we are rich in love. That might sound cheesy and this is the season of sappy, heartwarming sentiment, so I'm allowed to be sappy.
A local organization has been featured on FB's "Love What Matters" page. They started back in 2008 and their main purpose is to help children in foster care have the same necessities as anyone else. They are solely non profit and take any form of donation. This year, they decided that they were going to hand out paper ornaments for the children to write one 'need' and one 'want'. It was sobering what some of these kids were asking for. Food, so they "aren't the only ones at school without a snack at snack time", winter coats and one brother even asked for feminine products for his sister, so that she didn't have to keep missing school. Think. About. That.
So, my friends. Remember your blessings. Remember things could always be worse and that no matter what life throws at you, it's always more rewarding to give, than to receive!
The organization is called "Things Of My Very Own" and is located in Schenectady, NY. If you can't donate to them, consider looking up a similar organization near you! Good night and God bless you. .
