The final chapter of Leviticus talks about dedicating animals, houses, land, fields ... and people to GOD. Such things/people, so devoted are 'more holy to the Lord.'
This got me thinking about my dedication to GOD. I think that sometimes I can be so compelled by an encounter with GOD that I vow myself to Him, yet as soon as life gets a bit tricky, I take back control once more. I don't want my dedicating to be on a whim. I want it to be devoted, not because it is more holy to the Lord, although that is a good motivation. I know that a sincere dedication and devotion comes from the depths. It is not easily dismissed or left. It cannot be ignored.
I was also thinking of the blue whale revealed as the new welcome to the Natural History Museum, London. It is a symbol of hope; a whole species was rescued from the brink of extinction.
Sometimes my dedication to GOD can falter, but I will not let it become extinct. It is time to dive deeper ... go into the depths and dedicate it all to the one who withheld nothing.
