As a child, I loved swimming. I caught on to swimming so fast and I looked forward to pool time on vacations in the summer. And then around age 14, I became afraid of water. I was afraid to drown even though I had been such a good swimmer. Still to this day I don’t know why I started to fear it. •
Recently, I read a story about the astronaut Scott Kelly and how during his year in space the thing he missed most was the sensation of being in water. When he returned to Earth and got home he immediately walked through his house, out the back door, and jumped into his pool (still in his flight suit). Reading this it dawned on me that being in water is an experience to be treasured in life. I will no longer be afraid. ✨
