These are the Powis Gate Towers which sit slightly south of King's College in Old Aberdeen, and yes, they do look a bit like something out of a fairy tale!! 😁
Together, the towers form an archway known as Powis Gate, which once served as the main entrance to Powis House - an estate that used to lie behind them! Today, the Powis Gate instead acts as an entrance to some on-campus dorms at the University of Aberdeen!
The towers were built between 1833 and 1834 at the request of John Leslie of Powis! Their Turkish-style (in the minaret form) offers a very interesting contrast of style amidst the other gothic buildings of Old Aberdeen!
