Saturday Switch time!
Switch from counting calories to counting nutrients. Actually, in truth, I'm not a fan of counting when it comes to food. Been there, done that in my younger years. Only made me obsessed and more likely to want the foods I was trying to avoid.
When we ask ourselves 'what will nourish me right now and give me nutrients so I can feel good' it becomes a lot easier to eat well than from a place of thinking 'how many calories does this have?'. This humble avocado has 160 calories. Compare this to a popular chocolate biscuit which has 95 calories.
The avocado is packed with healthy fats, folate, potassium, vitamin K, B, E and C.
The 95 calorie chocolate biscuit? Packed with sugar, inflammatory vegetable oils, colours, flavours, emulsifiers and goodness knows what else.
Which food is going to leave you feeling good and closer to your health goals? Nature gets it right every time. When we choose whole unprocessed foods and trust our bodies, we can let go of the calorie counting. And if you're going to have the chocolate biscuit - enjoy it, and don't worry about the calories 😊!
