Y O U T H D A Y
As part of the youth, it is our job to thank those that fought for not only their own freedom, but for those that fought for the freedom of the future generations of leaders, groundbreakers and world changers. It is our job to look up at the past generation of youth that allowed us to be called 'Born Frees' and find inspiration and encouragement from them to use the power that we have to create change and not use age as an excuse to rise up.
So thank you. Thank you to those who fought for my freedom, the freedom for people around me and the freedom for the society of South Africa.
BUT it doesn't stop there. I couldn't not feel more strong about my generation, we have SO much potential and so much privileges in our hands that we can use to rise up and take a stand against what is happening not only in our country but our world! We are privileged, we have the potential and now is the time to rise up and become the new generation of leaders, politicians, nurses, doctors, artists, teachers, creators, authors, it doesn't matter what we want to become because we HAVE the Power! We HAVE the skills! We HAVE everything and anything that it takes to change the world, and make it more positive, more safe, more tolerant and more loving. We cannot be like today's people, because we are not todays people, we are not mundane teenagers or young adults because we ARE the future! Do not let anyone take away you power, encouragement or determination because of your age or what you "cant" do, because yes, there may be certain things that we cant do, but there are still hundreds and thousands of things that we CAN do! It is our moment to stand together and help one another reach our potential. We are amazing! We are called! We are the future!
1 T I M O T H Y 4:12 "Do not let anyone treat you as if you are unimportant because you are young. Instead, be an example to the believers with your words, your actions, your love, your faith, and your pure life" We are not any less because of our age, we are not less important, nor unequal, nor unexceptional, nor without purpose.
