Extreme spotted sickness!
The rare Yellowdot or spotted saxifrage is hard to find and easy to overlook - the flowers are so tiny and they are usually found growing under rocky ledges. Close inspection though reveals its incredible spotted pattern.
Saxifraga bronchialis is a cushion forming perennial that is native to Alaska, the Pacific Northwest, and the the Rocky Mountains down to New Mexico.
It's tiny leaves from a moss like mat that cascades over and through rocks.
The name saxifrage literally translates to rock breaker, alluding to its habitat - growing out of crevasses it looks as though it's split the rock.
The genus saxifraga has about 400 species, some of which can be found growing on the north coast of Greenland, as far north as any flowering plant can survive.
