🤔Is tube meat good “dieting” food?
-
It’s a simple question, with a not-so-simple answer...at least in my opinion. In order to properly answer it, more questions have to be unpacked, like...”for who?” and “what do you mean by ‘good dieting food’?”
-
The short answer is “it depends,” and I don’t think that you can go much further with it than that until those other questions are addressed.
-
What’s good for some people is impractical, if not near-impossible for others. To make blanket statements about how we should all be eating just adds to the confusion we all have about how we “should” be eating.
-
That said, there are probably better options. Two @aidellssausage chicken sausages (pictured here) get you somewhere between 22-26 grams of protein, but “cost” anywhere between 360-420 calories. Just for context, 360 calories worth of regular chicken breast would get you somewhere in the neighborhood of 80 grams of protein.
-
The chicken breast would likely also take longer to eat and help you feel fuller, longer, than a sausage that’s gone in just a few bites. And if you’re eliminating an entire food group (like carbs)...ya better check the label and see how many carbs are in your tube meat. It’s kind of tragic to eliminate a food that’s good for us, just to replace the calories with something that may not be as satisfying.
-
It doesn’t matter if the label hits all of your emotional buttons and has all of the health buzzwords...calories still matter, and they’re something you might want to consider if you’re in a situation where you feel like you’re working your ass off to see body composition changes, but aren’t.
-
Hopefully this shed some light on whether tube meats are a good choice for “diet food.” If you’re now more confused than before you read this, I’m sorry. Let me know what’s confusing to you in a comment, and I’ll do my best to clarify! 😊
