When I was a child, I would often daydream about being a writer, poet or a journalist. In those dreams my outfit of choice was a simple cotton saree, accessorized with a tan Jholna bag, a pair of brown Kolhapuri sandals and a simple bindi, of course. Whenever I saw someone dressed that way, I just assumed she was a writer or a journalist. In my mind, writers and journalists didn't spend a lot of time getting dressed in fancy outfits. They had important things to write. Also, I think that's how a lot of 80s and early 90s Indian movies portrayed writers and journalists. 😆
I recently came across this simple, yet beautiful black and white saree on @roopkathaweb. It made me want to wear it and pen a few lines of poetry. Instead of writing (bad) poetry I created a couple of looks. The saree is surprising versatile and lends itself to being styled with different accessories. It pairs very well with oxidized silver accessories to create a traditional look. I also wore the saree with a polka dotted crop top from @sheinofficial @shein_us and it's a great casual look.
Now if you'll excuse me, I am going to channel my inner Sarojini Naidu and see where it takes me.
