Sedimentary my dear Watson! Whilst on a jaunt to Kent yesterday to pick up my darling new belt grinder (more on that later) the lure of nearby Timberline proved too much to resist. I came home with a 7' plank of this unusually tight and dark Santos Rosewood. I'm used to handling heavy exotics but the density of this board shocked me, it weighs a bloody tonne! Technically speaking It isn't a really a rosewood because all true rosewoods are of the Dalbergia genus, and Santos Latin name is Machaerium scleroxylon, though for all intents and purposes it may as well be. Damn pretty stuff.
