Today is #worldprematurityday, a day to honor and remember the babies born too soon. 💜 Each year, 1 in 10 babies is born premature in the United States. 💜 The preterm birth rate in the United States has increased for the second year, rising 2 percent to 9.8 percent in 2016. 💜 This year’s Report Card also reveals major racial/ethnic and geographic disparities signifying that babies have a higher chance of a preterm birth based simply on race and ZIP code.
