For those of you who miss the fine sand beaches they visited during the summer, here is a most impressive 100-tonne sand sculpture that was put on display towards the end of August in Toronto!
The sculpture was part of the events and attractions at the Canadian National Exhibition, the largest annual fair in Canada and something of a large-scale family event.
Besides an International Sand Sculpting Competition, an artist is invited each year to create a particularly massive sculpture, with a special theme, that serves as one of the exhibition's landmarks.
This year, the person invited was Canadian artist Karen Fralich and the chosen theme was "Myths and Magic"! We will let you judge the result by yourselves but it has undoubtedly strong affinities with heroic-fantasy!
