I spent an hour today, in what looked like the spaceship from Mork and Mindy (if you don't know who they are or what that is, you aren't my people 🙄). Alas, it wasn't a stranded UFO, but a flotation tank at @ballaratsaltrooms.
A little unnerving at first to get your kit off and hop into a lidded tub of luke warm water and around 180kg Epsom salts, knowing that your fate for the next hour is pretty much just you floating around, nek-ed, in the dark (there is light if you want) and some elevator music (if you choose). But ironically, it was a pretty grounding experience. With all stimuli removed and a strange inability to accurately locate where your limbs are, you're kind of left to just deal with the present, which in contrast to our lives outside the tank, is very little.
I think I dozed on and off, because I got those funny almost asleep jerks, and when I emerged (almost as white as Mork, cheers Winter) ears full of salt (I noticed the earplugs, and incidentally the towels, too late) I felt very realigned, physically and mentally.
And I already feel like immagunna sleep like a pro tonight.
Flotation tank - thumbs up.
