We made it! And holy hell did it FLY by.Just as they say “the days are long, but the years are short”. @sorellenc has been open for a YEAR & is BOOMIN! My sister Kati @skininthegame_kt an I work side by side making our dream a reality.
A little backstory on how we got HERE. Ive been in the industry since I was 19 yrs young.Working behind the chair to gain respect as a “young stylist” since everyone always assumed i was actually still in high school 🤣. But I was determined (&hard headed) but I refused to take what I saw was the “easy way”, so I jumped right out of hair school & into renting a booth full time in.Barely making enough to even afford my monthly booth rent of $500 but I refused to stop.Fast forward to 2 years & 3 salons later I found what (at the time) felt like my salon home. Staying there & working day in & day out I could feel myself little by little resenting my career. I LOVED HAIR. So what in the heck was going on!?A few more years went by & my career that once use to inspire me, was now a job that I hated even getting ready for.I became that “bum” hairstylist that looked like they just rolled out of bed (you know who I’m talking about 👀 ) & I began doing the bare minimum I could “to get paid” & then leave.I actually began dreaming of other careers & what I could do INSTEAD of hair. Umm NO.
So my wonderful support system (my fam) kept saying “if you don’t like the space you have, make the space you want”. Which at one point was my DREAM, to own a salon.Well the universe knew just what I needed to kick myself in the a$$ and that was Kati, My sister. To have her own career crisis (go follow her & peep her post) which made me give her the motivation & hype to join in on the beauty industry.Become an esthetician & BOOM just like that two worlds collided in what the universe knew we needed. Her to be my hype man and me to be hers.So the wheels started turning & one idea after another (along with HELLA family support) we ended up here. With SORELLE celebrating our one year.
Wow.Thank you universe.
Thank you to the dads, moms, husbands, & friends who literally helped pour the foundation & lay the floors to our dream. It’s here & it’s alive & well.
