I've installed this second 'baby' solar charge controller and routed a circuit to a couple of locations on the boat to allow us to connect in additional roaming panels.
Connected in parallel with both #Victron MPPTs on the charging bus and the Multiplus charger/inverter we have a total of 900 Watts of capacity. You never get this really due to distance and angle of the sun, solar panels rarely hit their capacity and not for long.
The VE bus with the CCGX is the key part of the network, these systems can balance and control the group so based on my max charge current setting of 40ah, they'll ensure I'm getting that whilst managing jointly the charge profile through bulk-absorb-float states which until we install lithium we have to suffer.
Running the generator to charge the batteries (we have circa 1500ah battery capacity) is a slow process due to the balanced charging profile. Net net is generator running for hours just to complete the last 15% absorb-float stages.
