@danielitosofrito One morning in 2016 I woke up with discomfort in my neck. I gave it a day, a week, a month, but it was hardly containable. With every sunrise the pain grew more rabid, like a Demogorgon from Stranger Things. 😏 After conducting an inventory of all the other little aches in my body I surmised that I was finally “feeling my age” 👴🏻. Apocalyptic arthritis, I was convinced. Good thing I didn’t let that stop me from getting actual expert opinions. I learned, the hard way, that I simply lacked awareness of my body and was doing all the wrong things: sleeping on my stomach, ignoring my posture at work, and yoga. Yes, yoga. Due to my hyper joint mobility I was overextending my joints and creating more problems than benefits. I also had a weak core and compensated by overusing other parts of my body. For the first time in my life I heard the term “anterior pelvic tilt”. The first picture here was taken at the beginning of 2017. Major imbalance in my shoulders and strange lumps. Mortifying. I had a weak back, a weak everything, and I realized I was not using my lower body in any major way.
The second picture is today. My shoulders are a lot more balanced. None of this would have been possible if it wasn’t for the steady guidance, temperament, and superb knowledge of @gabejj6 who taught me Deadlifts, Back squats, and Benching.
I now wake up without neck or back pain. I walk better, too. I am happy with the progress.
