Today's lunch is none other than Saga-Gyu at Kiraku Honten!
Yes I've been wanting to try this particular restaurant ever since I knew about it. If possible I wanted to try their Seiro Mushi, which is a way of steaming thin sliced beef with vegetables but they need at least 2 pax to order it. So I just went for their Saga-Gyu loin lunch set which is probably more budget friendly as well.(一人焼き肉！) Marbling was ok I guess... (职业病又来了), the beef was probably freshly cut, felt a little hard so I'm thinking maybe they froze it slightly to harden it before slicing, or that their chiller is super cold?
Taste wise, it's real authentic Saga-Gyu - Very recognizable light, mellow taste that just melts in the mouth. ... except I'm not a huge fan of Saga-gyu's light mellow taste actually.😅😂. I mean, Saga-Gyu is great. It tastes great and surely appeals to many people. But personally I like strong flavorful wagyu like Olive Beef and Tochigi Wagyu. Bungo Beef from Oita also had a slightly stronger flavour.😅. But still, definitely worth the trip to Kira.
