I've been having many conversations recently about plastic versus glass bottles & I've really enjoyed listening to other peoples views on the subject.
The reason the subject has come up for me is because I sell BPA free plastic water bottles containing Gem Stones. I've been asked by quite a few people over the past couple of months why I'm not selling glass / why I'm selling plastic etc... I thought I'd share my own personal reasons here as I need your opinion to help me make the right decision - do I stock glass or not?
I've learnt that, the main reason people want me to stock glass is because they want to make their home completely plastic free. Now, I'm all onboard for taking a look at our plastic consumption (especially single use plastic). Something my hubby & I are also taking seriously and will reduce where we can. But, lets get something straight here - there is a massive difference between single use plastic & reusable, recyclable plastic. I'm wondering if we have a 'bandwagon' mentality happening where fellow Earth loving souls have come together with such passion that the cause has gone a *bit* too far.
The reason I don't stock glass bottles right now is because:
1- BPA free plastic bottles will last for a long time. I have used mine every single day since April and I plan on using it until it falls apart! Glass on the other hand uses a lot more energy to produce and creates more carbon emissions. So, by forcing companies to ditch plastic bottles for glass, you are in fact, creating another problem.
2 - Glass is dangerous. I have dropped my bottle so many times that if it was glass, it would be smashed by now. I know my mummy friends whose kiddies have grabbed their bottles & chucked them across the room - thank god they weren't glass! I personally don't want to go back to a time where there was constant glass on the pavements & in parks or even gyms because they kept getting smashed. 🌟
Having said all of that, these are my personal views & I have the outlook to respect others viewpoints too. So, I need your help. Why should I stock glass bottles? I've heard some great reasons so far & am already swaying 😉💕
