An excerpt from my play- "Twelve". ... [She looks back on the past twelve months
She laughs.
Why was her story written this way?
She may never know the answer.
She will never know the answer… she rewrites.
If someone had told her a year ago she’d stand where she stood
She’d laugh in their face.
That would never be her narrative.
Yet, here she is.
...
She ends in a memory of a time and place in where she once stood
It’s vaguely familiar…
Looking in to a dusty, broken mirror she once knew.
She still has the same identity from twelve months ago
She has the same curls
She has the same family
She has the same name
Yet, she’s changed.
The way she breathes is different.
She holds herself in a different manner.
She sees the world in a different way.
A river is always the same river
The water that makes up the river... is different.
It moves, changes, is never still for very long.
The water carries the present, pushes the past, and welcomes the future.
As does life.
She holds the present.
She forgives the past.
She sprints steadfast in to the future.
Thank you, twelve.] #SAAM2017

“By making me feel heard, believed, and safe throughout the next 12 hours, they laid the foundation for me to pursue justice.”
What started out as a night of celebration, quickly turned into a nightmare for Amy-Lee Goodman. After returning from a night of karaoke with her friends, Amy woke up to find her roommate’s boyfriend raping her. She was taken to #NYP and @WeillCornell where she was cared for by the Victim Intervention Program (VIP).
Click the link in our bio to see how NYP’s VIP helped Amy find the strength to seek justice against her rapist. #SAAM2017

Amazing day in Bracebridge! Kevin from @whiteribboncanada & Julie from the Ontario Coalition of Rape Crisis Centres spent the day working with local grade 8 students. Kevin worked with the boys to unpack masculinity and men's roles as bystanders. Julie worked with the girls to challenge victim blaming and the importance of supporting survivors. 🙌

Ok guys stick with me on this post, This month is Sex Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) Not many know this about me, At the age of 8 I was sexually molested by my grandfather in September of 2014 I revealed to my parents and very close friends what had happened by October of 2015 I was in this very courthouse giving my testimony to 23 people I've never met in my life, May of 2016 I faced my abuser in this courthouse and shared the whole story with family and yet again another 12 people I have never met,My abuser in October of 2016 was found guilty, No one said it would be easy, no one said how hard it would be to have to face the very coward that did those things to me on Decemebr 31st,2005 . This post is to encourage others to stand up, bring light to the very things in this world that people are ashamed to talk about, reading all of the breaking news when this coward was indicted was so fearful to me reading comments people left who said it couldn't be true. My parents, family and close friends have continued to show support and love up to this very day. Don't be afraid to reach out to someone, this is something that is a constant struggle in my life but god has blessed me and humbled me I'm thankful for the man it's made me today, no one deserves to be left alone. Encourage others to talk about things that are rarely talked about in society, Raise Awarness. #saam2017 #saam

I am still humbled beyond belief on how much support I got this year for my auction. Still blown away by the donations that were donated this year. Last year I had about 20-25 items available and this year I had over 70!! My goal was $3k and we raised exactly $3837 which is at least double the amount from 2016! Friends I just want to say thank you once, again for supporting my birthday wish to raise money for their Children's Play Therapy at the SAVA Center. I could have not done any of this wouthout the support of my family, friends, supporters and new friends made. From the bottom of my heart bucket thank you a million times over 👊🏽☺️💕🌈🦄.

Truth 27: Remain in my love.

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. John 15:9 NIV •
I felt like there were two of us.

Me and the wounded little girl inside of me.

Most of the time she was very quiet, unless she was terrified, paranoid, or anxious. Then she was like a neon noisy panic button in my body.

In therapy, I started to acknowledge our pain. I desperately needed to get well, but I couldn’t do it without her.

We needed each other. We had to connect and work together.

At first, I was disgusted with her and could hardly stand to look at old pictures. All I could see was shame and filth.

I tried drawing her several times, but she always appeared older. I could never make her small enough or innocent enough or young enough.

I kept her picture on my phone, and on my desktop.

Over time, her image brought me to tears instead of filling me with shame. Eventually, I was able to grasp the truth: she was small, young, and innocent. Period.

She was also strong, resilient, and courageous.

I remember the night it all came full circle... click #linkinbio or visit www.journeypink.com #childhoodsexualabuse #30daysoftruth #saam #saam2017 #healing #hope #freedom #childsexualabuse #journeypink
