Yesterday, Adventure Squad decided we would scare ourselves a little on this adventure
Behind a small church in a small place called Dunino lies a pre-Christian holy site consisting of a well, an altar stone and a den.
The rumours are that it was used for human sacrifices by ancient druids (if that isn't enough to put you off, keep reading)
To get to "den" you must climb down stone steps that have been carved into the cliff face.
When you get into the den, you will find lots of little trinkets such as necklaces, bracelets, crystals, pictures, poems, pennies, keys, shells, ribbons, stuffed animals and carvings in the rocks. (Or, like us, you find a NANDOS table sign on top of a 12ft tree stump)
It can be a pretty unsettling, but at the same time, a wondrous experience to imagine what may have taken place in this area along with all the people who have visited this place to be transported back to a time long ago where religion wasn't even a thing on this earth.
Truly worth a visit, if you dare! 😝
