I talk about this @paisleyandjade hanging table entirely too often because I truly think it’s super cool. I wish that I could rent one that seats 20 and suspend it at my momma’s house for Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving has quickly become my favorite holiday. It is followed closely by Christmas, of course, but it’s not about the food to me (read: but it’s also about the food 😉.) .
I have such a deep bond to tradition. And while growing up, tradition on Christmas ran deep. We would drive 10 hours one way to see lifelong friends and our perfect grandmas in Louisville, KY (go cards!) but as we grew up and had to adult (college, full time jobs) we stopped going for 2 weeks, and then eventually stopped going at all. So I kind of felt like I was scrounging for tradition, for things that made it feel like real Christmas after 20 years of Louisville Christmas. .
Until I realized that Thanksgiving was holding me down. It’s always been there for me. My BFF T-givin’
We’ve been SO lucky, to spend the last 15 years or so of Thanksgiving with my aunt and uncle and cousins, and now my kids get to have that extra love at Thanksgiving too. Y’all Thanksgiving is SO important to me. And as things change and my husband and I navigate building our Christmas our own way, I’ll happily be a thanksgiving super fan and eat my corn casserole and mashed taters, play Dutch blitz and run turkey trots (yes my husband married into THAT kind of family 😂) with the best company in the world.
So if you made it through my longest caption EV-Hair, let me know what your favorite traditions are, ‘cause I may borrow a few 😏
