That right there is the manic, overheated smile of a girl who is SUPER PROUD of her run this morning. I went out wanting nothing more than to get in five miles and to survive the brutal humidity, but then I clocked my first mile at under 10 minutes. That was new and surprising, because I wasn't pushing for speed, so imagine my surprise when the second mile ALSO came in at under 10 min. I decided then to split my run up into two separate runs and aim for a sub-10 min pace for the first three miles. AND I DID IT! I wish I had pushed a little harder though, because I only missed a sub-30 5K by about 20 seconds. I played with intervals for the next two miles, so I'm glad I logged it as two separate runs (because I'm going to stare happily for a while at the average pace on that first one).
