Squeezing out a few more seconds on the final stretch💪 •
RACE REVIEW BELOW
Before the race I wasn‘t sure whether I‘m ready to run a sub34. I didn‘t run for three weeks in January, due to a tough cold. Moreover, my intervals and tempo runs weren‘t as fast as last year before I ran my current half marathon pb at the #rhylauf .
Nevertheless, my goal was to aim for a pace of 3:20 from the start and see what‘s happening. As always, I started faster. It was a massive bunch of people in front if me as it happened to be the #swisschampionships and the field was very strong! The reason why I chose to come back and compete at this race.
The first two kilometers in 6:30min passed by quickly and I got in a good rythm. However, I slowed down slightly on purpose to have enough energy for the second half of the race. Unfortunately, I didn‘t find a proper group to run with. My pace leveled out at around 3:24min with km 8 being the slowest in 3:26min. On the last 4km, I started passing more and more runners increasing my pace on the last 2km again to 3:21min finishing strong in 33:44min with a new #personalbest 💪
Many runners complained a bit about the wind. Personally, it didn‘t really annoy me. The main thing limiting me were my lunges, my legs felt very good!
Now it‘s time to look for a new goal, increasing the mileage and signing up for races. Any ideas 💡 out there?
