I earned this medal! 😍 13.1 miles. Some of them painful. No PR's at all. 12:30 pace. My slowest half marathon pace to date. My best was 10:52 last October. A little update since my Sunday half. I was in allot of pain Sunday and Monday. I thought my knee was going to give before the finish line, but it didn't.
I had some pain free runs the past 2 weeks, and I trained up to 11 miles 2 weeks prior. I didn't expect the knee to react the way it did. Yesterday, it hurt but not near as bad as it had Monday, so I went to the gym and cross trained and did legs. Tonight I did the stair master for 30 minutes. I know that sounds crazy putting all that stress on my knee, but something about activating that muscle works. It makes no sense to me, but it helps. I can't run yet. The pounding is too much for the knee currently, but hopefully this will heal quickly and I'll be back at it VERY soon.
Most of last year I dealt with groin/adductor issues, and at the end of the year I added hamstring and glute issues to that. I finally have overcome those issues, and now the dang knee acts up. I have been increasing my mileage aggressively the past month and will back down from that and build back up slowly.
Thank you to those who have contacted me asking how I am doing and thank you all for your constant support and encouragement. Y'all keep me going and y'all are such an inspiration to me through your posts and journeys!
