Chicago marathon peak week wrapped up on Saturday, and was the most different peak week I have ever done for a marathon. My running mileage for the entire week was 5.27 miles.
That's not a typo.
I have a whirlwind of emotions about this....but I've known for a while that Chicago was just going to be for fun, so I'm still just grateful that my doctor gave me the green light to do it.
In other news...my endurance is the best it's ever been in my life. The amount of swimming and running I did this week is actually comical to me. Over 24,000 yds, which is more than 13.6 miles. Yep...I swam a half marathon this week. 😂😂. I also spent 12 hours on my bike, doing some tough endurance sets, and surprisingly...I feel amazing. Swimming and biking are SOOO much easier on your body than running. The few miles I did run felt spectacular, so I know the extra sleep and keeping the running easy is helping me. It's been a hard pill for me to swallow, and I'm not feeling very confident heading into a full marathon in what I feel is "half marathon running shape". It's definitely the least prepared I've ever felt, but it is what is is, so I'm determined to enjoy the ride. #chicagomarathon
