Quinoa, unlike other carbs sources, is a complete protein with all 9 essential amino acids. Great for vegans who are worried about their protein intake due to absence of meat and dairy in their diet. However given how expensive quinoa is, one may look for other equally wholesome wholegrain options such as brown rice instead.

Brown rice's nutritional profile may not be as spectacular as that of quinoa, however at its price range and affordability, it is definitely an awesome and great go to option. Not a complete protein, but it makes it up with its higher selenium and manganese content.

White rice. Probably the least reputable carb source among the ones I have mentioned due to its lower trace minerals and fiber profile and higher glycemic index. However, TBH its not that bad actl. For ppl with digestive issues, white rice may actl be a better option as compared to brown rice as it reduces the risk of impaired nutrients absorption. Definitely still a healthy option in my opinion so long as you are not gng overboard with the portion you are eating.

Bottom line: Quinoa/Brown Rice/White Rice doesnt rly matter that much. Rather, try cutting out refined and processed carbs such as sweet drinks, breads or baked gds instead for better health 💪🏻

I did these miles on the treadmill this morning. I waited all day to.post because I had every intention of getting outside tonight for another 3 miles. But after a fantastic day with my kids (we played hooky from school and hit the zoo, lunch out, Sam's Club shopping and a park) the night fell apart. Tennis class for the middle, youngest wouldn't go to bed because he fell asleep in the car, oldest wasn't feeling well and was in tears ... I just didn't feel comfortable leaving, even for 30 minutes. And that is just the reality of training with 3 children. So I'm taking my own advice from yesterday (after having a bit of a meltdown to my husband) and I'm choosing my words. Not complaint but gratitude that I at least squeezed in 3, that they didn't feel horrible and that I had a really wonderful day with my babies. Tomorrow is a new day.

#TBT go @illinoismarathon 2017. I ran a PR and was hoping to do the same this year. Unfortunately, heel injury has plagued me and injury didn’t go as planned. I was still holding out hope that I would run the full, but I am sick this week and know the best thing for me is to drop my distance. I’ll either be doing the half or 10k now instead. I’ll decide tomorrow when I get to the expo 😰😱 It’s really disheartening, but my brain knows it’s best to play it smart so I can be healthy for Chicago Marathon. I’d really like a strong training season and to PR in Chicago in October, so I’m working hard on getting my feet right - PT and other recovery things - and getting to the start line healthy of body and mind. It’ll still be a fun weekend - just know what I was planning.
