Hulu Langat Trail Run 2018
During the first 10min of the race, I felt charged up and was confident of a great race. 💪😎
But I made the usual mistake of trying to follow the leading pack on 4min pace.
One by one the not so fast runners including me dropped to our own pace. Eventually we all spread out thinly along the trail.
30min into the rolling hills, I was panting 😥🖓 and cursing myself...wanted to stop torturing myself 😢😭...was even thinking about being comfortable 😴 in bed! Hahaha!
Water stations were the most welcoming sight but I missed the ice potong/sticks 😓 Would have been nice to run trail holding one.😂😂 At the 1hour mark, my quads felt burning sensation meaning lactic acid started to build up. I just wanted the trails to end fast la...
With 1.5km to go, trail led to river crossing..a cold dip in the river made me felt refreshed but my legs lost steam and almost went to zzz😪. Tough to recharge them again. Luckily it was close to finish line...😅yesss!!
Finished 14.86km at a time if 1:18:50
Legs were not cramping towards the end unlike previous years. Mileage training together with nitrate from Beet It Sport beetroot concentrate worked well.
Of all the Coumbia montrail shoes I've tried, this latest Rogue FKT2 is my favourite! Light and comfortable cushioning level with functional soft ground sole.
Pace, distance, elevation and mapping shown in my Suunto Spartan Ultra are valuable info to control my race.
Kudos to the two very fast veterans who finished more than 6min ahead of me. I still have much catchup to do...hehehe 😜
It was great fun meeting fellow trail runners in Hulu Langat once again.
