Marathon training week 18 day 2
So many thoughts this early Tuesday morning.
First of all, holy humidity. St. Louis, I'm gonna need you to figure your stuff out. It's the middle of September and its going to get above 90° again today.
That brings me to my next point... With it being the middle of September, the sun doesn't rise until later than I can run so today I never got to turn off my head lamp... Which is stupid! And I can't run in the evening because I wouldn't make it!
Yay for tapering. This plan has me still doing hard work (1 speed work + 1 endurance and GMRP) along with 3 other easy runs but my milage is 75% of what it was last week! Which is awesome! I'm so excited.
Which brings me to my last point... I'm not sure what got into me today. My pace was great for me... And I didn't feel like I was pushing too hard. Now this could be for many reasons. 1) Mentally, I hit that 20 mile run so I can relax, 2) it was only 4-5 miles, therefore it seemed easier, 3) those stretches @bspaunhorst has been doing with me has helped, or 4) a combination of the aforementioned or something else entirely. Regardless, huge confidence boost to run at that pace and not feel like death (and not racing).
