I commonly get asked whether you need to do cardio in addition to a healthy, well balanced diet, in order to lose weight/get into shape. The simple answer is that you can get into shape with or without cardio. -
I'm a huge fan of cardio, especially sprinting and high intensity interval training (HIIT), for more reasons than just getting into shape for upcoming competitions or to be bikini body ready 👙

For instance, it puts the cardiovascular system under a stress different to that than just lifting weights. The mental clarity it also provides is hard to match and allows a time for myself to focus and de-stress (which is extremely important as a university student). My favourite benefit, however, is that it is also a useful tool to burn additional calories, which means I am able to consume more of the things I love, such as pizza and doughnuts 🍕🍩 😂

Hoje passo por um período de recuperação ... Todo e qq corredor um dia sofreu algum tipo de lesão ! Não eh fácil ouvir do seu médico que terá de ficar um tempo sem correr! @docmagliocca me deu 2 semaninhas sem corrida, o q não me impede de fazer outras coisas ... posso fazer outros tipos de treinos e ir me adaptando com aquilo que meu corpo, no momento, permite desenvolver ! Certamente não eh o fim do mundo e eu sei disso. -

Essa lesão me tirou da prova alvo que seria a maratona de POA, mas creio que ha "males" q vem para o bem! Poderia me esforçar e fazer essa prova? Talvez sim, talvez não 🤔, mas opto sempre pelo meu bem estar. -

HI I'm back!! 🙋I took a couple days off from running and my 2 year old asked me if I was sick yesterday morning when he found me in bed instead of coming home from my run when he woke up! 😂
I have 2 more spring races coming up before I start training for Chicago in the summer.
In 2 weeks I have my first 25k race and then 2 weeks after that the Bayshore Half Marathon! Training can get mentally tough and stepping away from it for complete rest is also good for the soul... but it's back to WORK for this girl! 5 progressive easy miles this morning just to get the legs moving again and MAN that felt good! 😍

#Run4prs athlete spotlight on Jessica and Kylei (and Amber - see Sunday's post!) who broke into the sub 2:00 half club in 2017! Both scored a new PR of 1:56 this weekend! They both live in the Midwest so LOTS of treadmill running this winter... and they both have crazy busy careers 👜👠💻 usually running 3-4 days per week. They can do it so can you! Run all the miles, eat all the food. 10k this morning to start out the day. It was suppose to be an easy recover run from yesterday's speed work but my husband had somewhere to be which means time was limited! My hip is a little tight which is something I've never struggled with before, so lots of stretching and foam rolling today. It's Hump day guys! We are halfway through the week!!!
