"Blade" is 1998's #rrated #marvelmovie starring #wesleysnipes as Blade, the Slayer of venomous #vampires that lurk in the night. And, with the help of Dr.Jenson (#nbushewright ) and Whistler (#kriskristofferson ), Blade must stop the evil Frost (#stephendorff ) from unleashing a blood God and wiping out the entire human race.
To start things off, #blade himself is both a #badass and an interesting character. His story of being half-#vampire and losing his mother because of one is an interesting look at his background, and helps us connect to his more human side. I even enjoyed his scenes with Jenson. The way they interact makes it feel like they've known each other for years. Plus, they actually DON'T end up as a couple! It's almost as if not every man and woman who hang out are required to kiss by the end. Furthermore, I like seeing the vampire's community, with their bloody parties and nasty but casual interactions with each other. Aw, Hell, I'm just beating around the bush at this point, because THE FIGHT SCENES ARE AMAZING! I know there isn't a whole lot, but when I say they're fun and badass, THEY ARE fun and badass! The fights in this are what define #marvel action, especially since it's not restricted by being family-friendly. But with all that said, I must admit there's BIG issues that almost ruined this film for me.
As fun as this movie was, there's still few yet big plotholes that should be addressed. First, how are all the vampires surviving in the sun? I know they're wearing sunscreen, but how's that ALL they need? Second, why doesn't the "vampire government" try to stop Frost, seeing how they verbally acknowledge he's causing them issues. Third, why does nobody REACT? Citizens say nothing when a cop is pounded or when a child is grabbed by a creepy pedo, and Blade doesn't seem to show much care when Whistler is dead! How are we supposed to care about Blade when HE doesn't care? This is almost as bad as "Men in Black!" But, whatever. It's still a #goodmovie .
If you can forgive huge plotholes and want great action, I really recommend this. It's not one of my favorites, but it was DEFINITELY worth seeing!
