Overall, first powerlifting meet went decently well, went 5 for 9 on all of my lifts, made a lot of mistakes which weren’t necessarily due to strength concerns but just fundamental errors which wont be hard to fix for my next meet. #rps #rpspowerlifting

I love that I GET to bench press again. It was one of my favorite lifts. A few years back, due to ignoring an old injury, I thought I’d never get to bench again. To never feel the iron in my hands pressing to the sky 😭😭😭 thanks to an amazing trainer @legacy_strength and some hard work I GET to do it again.

Had the gym to myself this morning so i hit 10lbs over my opener for this weekend. My shoulder felt a little unstable still from all the overload work i'v been doing recently so i just chased a pump after that. I was really feeling that no3 ultimate 💪 thanx to @fit_over_flab

This past weekend I️ finally competed in my first powerlifting meet! Not everything went as planned with all the lifts but it was one of the best experiences of my life. Been nice taking a little time off but time to compete again 💪 In February I'll head to Fair Haven, VT to compete in the RPS Winter Classic with a crew of savages. If you've been interested in doing a powerlifting meet I highly recommend tagging along. I'm far from an expert but always happy to support those looking to compete and get strong 👍💯

Went 1/3 on my Bench. Opened with 170 got it easy. I did not get the 185 we had planned on for the next two attempts. You win some you lose some. What I took away from this was my set up needs work, I'm still not comfortable benching with an arch and setting my shoulders properly. Absolutely will be working on this for next time. Leg drive will come with repetition. I changed my whole bench routine and setup about 6 weeks ago with the Gorilla Pack and still amazed at the difference in how much more I can lift. Every meet you learn more about what you can do and how your gym training translates into meet day. I still struggle with the mental aspect of even though it was super hard in the gym come meet day that drive to succeed helps push those legs through the floor and it's an easier lift than you anticipated. Made my goal of 325 - I've had trouble getting a clean lift past the thick thighs last couple meets and even if my goal number was easier than i thought it was going to be this meet helped get my mental game back on track and that my friends is a fantastic feeling. Pssssshewie..... this past week has been hectic to say the least. It was a light week for everything but deads and couldn’t figure out why I was tired.
So I upped my protein and iron and taaaaaaadaaaaaa! 💁🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ Part of being a post vertical sleeve /weight loss surgery patient is know that even when you take ALL you vitamins, you still end up with low days and have to know and listen to yourself in order to fix it. It can be hard .... knowing sometimes you have to eat a small amount of the things that are bad for you so your body gets what it needs.
Constant mind game...... The LillyBridge (@brandonlilly3 ) program w/tweaks for my need that @ironmafia_4brosgym & @shana___miller have given me for this prep has me crushing numbers and well re-thinking the original goals.
This could be a good thing..... right? 🤔

I’m so grateful to follow in the footsteps of some strong ass men & women, humble for the modern science and technology to teach me how to push myself more than I ever thought possible. I've always kept the Lifter cards from my Meets, and enjoy goiing back through them to remember lifters and lifts they've done. People that I barely knew then and have since grown into good friends. People that I've seen go from small lofts, and travelled to the Arnold. My Valkyrie, @sabrina_d7 and I met at one of my Meets. I look back at her card and smile. So many good things tied up in these cards, and as I look at these, I wonder where some of these lifters may go over the years.

As disappointed as I was with my squats performance I honestly can’t complain after seeing this. I broke my own previous record for bench, deadlifts, and overall total. Still holding all 4 state records for the 181 weight class ☺️🎉. On that note, progress towards my 2018 goals starts TODAY! I’ve been in the biggest funk of my lifting “career” ever since my meet. No desire to lift, no motivation. I think I fixed that today. I picked out my next meet on May 5th at @rivercity_barbell and had a pretty decent squat session. Did box squats for 6x8 at 315 and some tempo squats for 5x5 at 300.
