@dickersonross carved out of wood. In many ways I see myself more of an artist than a photographer and the subjects in front of my camera are the raw materials I have to work with. I have an image in my head that I hope to see on the view screen at the end of the shoot. Sometimes I’m surprised by the results and it’s often the surprise photographs I like the most. Conversion into black and White is not merely a matter of switching off the colour, you can spend an hour fine tuning the tones, crushing the levels and honing the fine detail to get things exactly how you want them to be. Part of the reason I love mono so much. Colour can distract from the pure content.
