Train smarter.... had a long talk with a friend about this today and my focus this year. @burnscolin nailed it on this post (and that jerk 🙌🏼) Thanks for posting this @albrecht_mark ・・・
"Failure". Failure doesn't exist in training, only feedback. Missed lifts aren't failed lifts. Not being able to hit prescribed numbers is not failing your program. Any and all programs are guides, not absolutes. Whenever I write my plan and program, I 100% expect to have to modify it. If an athlete of mine sends me a message that they are getting crushed, we adjust. Some days it's just not there. How you deal with adversity will impact success far more than how you deal with the perfect scenario. Sometimes you have to pull it back, or make larger changes. That's okay! I started this week in a rough place, so I had to pull it back and even cut out some things. Probably because I came out of the gates last week a bit too hard after the deload. Only way to move forward is to adapt, and learn from it for next time. You ability to pull it back is just as valuable as your ability to hammer through. How and when you apply those abilities will be your recipe for success. You don't get extra points for slamming your head against a concrete wall when you could walk around it. #juggernautweightlifting

"Hinging for Weightlifting". I have slowed down sections of the lift so you can see what's going on a little better. Hinging for weightlifting should not be about pushing to hips back, but instead about getting forward and maintaining proper foot pressure. In the first lift, you can see the hips don't push back excessively. Any work done from hang or assistance should lend toward strengthening this position. In the following two hang positions the movement is clearly initiated with shoulders and chest coming forward over the bar, the hips traveling only as far back as necessary. This allows you to keep pressure in the same spot mid foot and whole foot, while taking maximal advantage of the extension UP at the top. If you push your hips back and get too much into your glutes, there isn't enough leg use and there will be a loss of tension through the transition to vertical. You are also likely too deep into the heels and everything is behind the bar which will cause a backward extension and hips traveling too far forward making the bar loop. On hang work, think about making the bar "hang from your belly button" to give you an idea of being on top of the bar.

Junior Europeans was amazing. finish in 10th place and being in the A group in my first big international competition was great.
Even with my ankle injury from Nordic junior I was able to finish with 113 snatch with a good attempt at 116 and a 136 opener and a last glory attempt 146 for the junior Nordic recprd which just wasn't there.
Eliat was great and people there were amazing. Now it's time to prepare for the next big competition.

Timing your pull under the bar can be crucial for energy conservation. Being one of the taller lifters out there, this is something I've struggled with since day one. I'm a great puller because of how I'm built, and I tend to over-pull on the bar. The first clean at 107kg/236lb I spent a split second too long at the top of my pull and the bar crashed on me at the bottom and I lose my hips under me. What followed was probably the slowest standing up of a clean in history. I used this lift, pinpointed what I needed to focus on for the next lift at 109kg/240lb (slightly less pull at the top), and the clean was much easier.
Started at a 176 total and used 20 lifts (14 snatches OTM and 6 clean and jerks) to reach 197 today. I'm definitely exhausted but a year ago I couldn't even total that in a meet. Today was definitely a mental test for me. Today I got better.
P.S. Weightlifting isn't that serious kids. You should at least be able to laugh at your ugly lifts. 😂

I've only attended nerd universities with no athletic teams. So I'm half expecting to get shoved in a locker any day now.

Well it wasn't the fascial explosion that I knew I was capable of, but all-in-all a pretty good day. 120kg snatch, 140kg clean & jerk for a competition PR total at 260kg. Also pressed out a 123kg snatch and a 144kg clean and jerk. So, I'll call that a sloppy PR training total at 267kg. Thanks to @burnscolin for getting me ready for this meet and @crossfitdoublebarrel for putting on a great event.

Solid start to the week and this new training block. Lots of snatch singles OTM up to 90% 100kg/220 and CJ singles up to 90% 125kg/275.

I know all you can see is a sweet pair of shorts, but if you look closely you'll actually notice my third set of 3+1 @ 100kg to close out week one in the new cycle.
