A lot of you are messaging me asking if traveling in the mountains is safe or not. My advice, please don’t, we have canceled two expeditions in last three weeks, it is raining continuously, dense fog on the roads and the traffic is always jam. I was stuck in a 2.5 hour jam on my way to Keylong as you can see in the picture. There is no point of traveling, trekking to Kheerganga or Triund or anywhere if you are not able to experience the beautiful views from the top. The trek routes are slippery, phone network and electricity almost negligible and there are constant warnings against landslides. Plan your weekends in Rajasthan, in Goa or Madhya Pradesh, it will be a better experience considering the fact that the beauty of The Aravalis, The Satpuras and The Western Ghats enhace during the monsoon and the roads are not as dangerous like the Himalayas. For those who are planning a long term holiday, visit Spiti or Ladakh because they mostly fall in the rain shadow of The Himalayas.
