Picked up some great looking blossoms at @urbanharvesthouston this weekend and couldn't wait to figure out what to do with them. I've always loved brining chicken in buttermilk before roasting. It makes a fantastic base for whatever flavors you want to bring and adds a little sweetness of its own. This time it was brined with a mixture of fresh jalapenos, basil from the garden, and a handful of squash blossoms. Sliced and served over buttermilk broccoli slaw and topped with crispy jalapenos and blossoms. Let's just say it wasn't hard to make a happy plate...
