“Proceed as if success is inevitable.”
I have to admit I’ve been having a moment of weakness with prep, being halfway to my goal I’ve been giving it 💯 and it’s been both physically and mentally draining. When I’m preparing for a show, I basically eat sleep and breathe for it. I’m self-coached so I never really have a break since I’m writing my own plans, implementing my nutrition and training, and critiquing my physique daily. I honestly love the process, but I’ve realized sometimes you have to take a step back and remind yourself WHY you’re doing this. That may be completely different for everyone, but that’s what I love about this sport. Every single person who steps on stage brings something different, yet somehow the same. We’ve all pushed through physical and mental barriers to achieve what is important to us. At the end of the day, we are judged into certain placings but that’s not my why. I’m doing this to prove to myself that I can. I’m doing this because I love seeing what the human body is capable of, I love having a goal to work towards, I love the adrenaline, and I love the lessons I’ve learned along the way.
So just a reminder to anyone else having a moment of doubt in themselves: your success is not defined by your placing, or your body fat %, or whether you hit your macros today. Success is being kind to yourself, maintaining a positive mindset, and always striving to be your best.
