We passed through immigration and customs without any trouble, and entered Cambodia.
When you cross country borders by road, the world feels like a small village. You do not get this feeling when you take a flight into a country, because you are disconnected from the actual world. When you are connected again, you are on different soil, with different people, experiencing different weather, etc. By road, the transition is much smoother as you are connected throughout. The changes are not sudden and I love that feeling.
Partner had visited and ridden through Cambodia before. He told me about the beautiful temples enroute to Siem Reap, located about 120 km from the border.
We paid US$20 and passed through a little barricade. It looked like a quiet jungle, with temples around. After riding about 10 minutes, partner suddenly took a left turn between some trees. I initially thought that he had lost his way, but as soon as we parked and walked ahead, I saw one of the most peaceful old temples. The place was absolutely deserted - I could hear the wind and birds. The energy and vibe of the space was magnificent. I saw a lighter and incense sticks on the ground next to the temple – I know someone had placed them there just for me ;) After visiting so many temples to date, I can say that I loved this one the most.
